Employers Must Post 2018 Injury/Illness Summary Beginning Feb. 1

Employers are reminded of their obligation to post a copy of  OSHA's Form 300A, which summarizes job-related injuries and illnesses logged during 2018. Each year, from Feb. 1 to April 30, the summary must be displayed in a common area where notices to employees are usually posted. Businesses with 10 or fewer employees and those in certain low-hazard industries are exempt from OSHA record keeping and posting requirements. The Building Material industry is NOT considered a low-hazard industry.
Visit OSHA's  Record Keeping Rule webpage  for more information on record keeping requirements.

Vehicle Preparedness

While it's true that a driver's skills, training, and experience are key to safety on the road, there's plenty that can be done before a vehicle leaves the garage to help a driver stay safe between Point A and Point B. Make sure all your vehicles are prepared - inside and out - for their intended use before you send employees out into traffic.

In the Cab
  • Ditch the distractions
  • Keep it clean
  • Prepare for an emergency
Under the Hood
  • Get a grip
  • Practice constant care
  • Watch for recalls
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. So, before you or your employees head out, make sure all your vehicles are ready for what the road has in store.

OSHA Shares Fall Prevention Resources Ahead of National Safety Stand-Down
To help employers prepare for the sixth annual  National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction, set to take place May 6-10, OSHA is offering free compliance assistance resources online.

Falls are the leading cause of worker fatalities in the construction industry, according to OSHA. The stand-down gives employers and workers an opportunity to address common fall hazards and ways to reduce related injuries and deaths.

Among the resources:
In its most recent  Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries, the Bureau of Labor Statistics recorded 887 fatal falls in 2017 - the highest total in the 26-year history of the census. Those falls accounted for 17.2 percent of the 5,147 overall workplace deaths.
